Picking out the right airsoft sniper rifle for you can be difficult. One important factor is obviously quality. However, there are many other factors that should influence your decision. There are a large number of airsoft sniper rifles out there in many different shapes and sizes. Nobody but you can decide which gun is the best gun for you. One good way to know if a gun will work well for you is to find a gun that you have used before and were happy with. If you have not tried out any sniper rifles that you like try asking your friends to see what they recommend. If possible, try out their gun and see if you like it as much as them.

If you're serious about playing a sniper in airsoft don't get the cheapest gun you can find. You will want a sturdy and reliable gun that you can count on during a skirmish. Cheaper sniper rifles can be a lot of fun for backyard plinking and target practice, but over all they are not recommended for skirmishers. However, you also do not need to spend a fortune. You can get a great spring powered airsoft sniper rifle for around $100-$200.

A common mistake for beginning airsoft snipers is to choose a rifle solely based on max velocity. Although high FPS can't hurt you, you need to remember that sniper rifles are precision weapons, and if the gun does not shoot consistently then you most likely will not be hitting your targets.

The Thompson Submachine gun has been famous since it was first invented in 1919 by General John T. Thompson. The gun is easily recognizable and holds historical importance after being used in WWII and during the Prohibition by law enforcement and criminals alike. Informally, the Thompson is known as the "Tommy Gun," the "Trench Broom," the "Trench Sweeper," the "Chicago Piano," the "Chicago Typewriter," and the "Chopper."

The gun was originally invented to be used for trench warfare during WWI, but the war ended before prototypes could be shipped over to Europe. The gun was originally going to be called "The Anihilator" but for post-WWI marketing purposes it was renamed the "Thompson Submachine Gun."

The tommy gun was adopted by the U.S. Military in 1938 and played an important role in WWII for the Allied troops as a weapon for scouts, non-commissioned officers, and patrol-leaders. It was also widely utilized by British and Canadian Commando units as well as by U.S. paratrooper and ranger battalions.

The gun is famous for its use in the military as well as its use by gangsters. We stock two airsoft versions of the gun. One is a replica of the M1 A1 which was used mainly in the military, and the other is a replica of the 1928 version with the drum magazine typically seen in gangster films.

Magnification - This is basically how close the scope brings you to your target. For example, an object viewed through a scope with a magnification of 5 will appear to be 5 times larger when viewed through the scope than when viewed with the naked eye.

Eye relief - The eye relief is the distance from the eyepiece you must position your eye to see the image correctly. The shorter the eye relief the closer you have to be to the scope when using it to aim.

Objective lens diameter - The diameter of the objective lens, usually expressed in millimeters. The larger the objective lens the more light can be gathered from an image.

Tube Diameter - The diameter of the tube does not have a direct effect on the image rendered by the scope, but it does effect how you mount the scope. The tube diameter must be the same as the rings which you use to mount the scope.

When looking at scopes the specifications will usually be displayed as follows: 3-9x50. The 3-9x means that the scope has a variable magnification between 3x to 9x. The 50 stands for the objective lens diameter, which is 50mm.

There are many different scopes with with varying degrees of magnification. For mid ranged rifles (most AEGs) we recommend that you choose a scope with a magnification of 3x-6x. Higher magnifications will not be very useful for your rifle's firing range. Also note that lower magnifications make it easier to keep the image steady, and higher magnifications show a smaller field of view. For sniper rifles a higher magnification will be more beneficial as your targets will usually be at a greater distance.

Once you have a scope picked out the last part is getting the appropriate sized rings. The ring size will correspond to the scope's tube diameter, so a 1" tube scope will use 1" rings. You also need to make sure that the rings fit your rail. For most airsoft applications weaver bases are used, in which case weaver rings should also be used.

We have had several customers ask how to fit the batteries into the TSD-Tactical Gen-II AEG model SR36 Carbine. To clear up any confusion and alleviate any potential frustration here are some tips and a couple pictures demonstrating how to get the battery to fit.

The best way to keep the battery in place is to use rubber bands, string, or a zip-tie to hold it to the barrel. Once the battery is in place you can put the cover back on and start using the gun.

Good patience is strongly recommended if you want to play a sniper in an airsoft game . Most airsoft rifles are spring powered, which gives you only one shot each time you cock the gun. This is why waiting for the right shot is so important. Missing your target can give away your position and by the time you have cocked the gun to take another shot the enemy may already be trowing BBs your way. However, waiting for the right shot will definitely pay off. You will have downed an enemy player, who most likely had no idea what hit them. You will also get the satisfaction from making a great shot.

Sniper rifles are some of the most powerful airsoft guns, usually shooting at around 400+ FPS (feet per second) with .20 gram BBs. They need this power to make them as accurate as possible at long distances. As a sniper most of your hits will be from a distance. To hit close range targets you will probably want to pull out your sidearm because snipers are not meant to be close range weapons. Due to their long barrels they are cumbersome, and they have a slow rate of fire.

Figuring out what weight of BB to use with your sniper rifle will be very important. Heavy BBs shoot straighter because they are less effected by wind resistance and turbulence, but the drawback with weight is that the heavier you the BB the lower the FPS rating. Lower FPS means that the BB takes longer to reach the target and also decreases range. You also do not want to use BBs which are too light because they will not be accurate. Sure, if you use .12 gram BBs they might reach 500+ FPS but the velocity is worthless if you can't predict where the BB will land. So most of the time you will want a BB with a weight somewhere in between the two extremes. Many airsoft snipers use .20g to .28g BBs, but the weight you use will vary depending on your preferences and your rifle.

In general, airsoft shotguns are usually spring powered airsoft guns. This means that they must be cocked before each shot is fired. Most airsoft shotguns are have a pump-action handle which allows them to be cocked using the handle attached to the barrel of the gun, just like how a real shotguns functions. This is a great advantage of a spring airsoft shotgun versus other spring airsoft guns because you do not have to let go of the gun with either hand to cock it. You can keep a steady aim on your target while getting your next shot ready instead of changing your focus to cocking the gun after each shot.

Airsoft shotguns are a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield, especially in CQB (close quarters) games. They are easy to aim and shoot at close ranges and the pump action gives them a decent rate of fire. An advantage that most of the higher grade shotguns have is that they fire a burst of BBs (usually 3 or 6) each time the trigger is pulled, making it even easier to hit the intended target.

Airsoft shotguns make great starter airsoft guns. They are relatively inexpensive starting at around $15.00 for the cheapest guns to around $80.00 for the best spring powered airsoft shotguns. They make great CQB guns and are also accurate at medium ranges. They also shoot hard and are very reliable due to the low number of moving parts in a spring powered gun. A great advantage of picking a shotgun as a starter airsoft gun is that it will still be useable even if you purchase a more expensive top-of-the-line AEG at a later date.

An airsoft gun is a type of air gun that fires 6mm plastic BBs at lower velocities than a typical air gun does. Most airsoft guns are made to be scale replicas of real firearms and are made to look and feel as realistic as possible. All airsoft guns use compressed air or gas to propel the BBs forward, but the way in which they accomplish this varies depending on the type of gun.

Types of Airsoft Guns

There are three main types of airsoft guns: gas, spring, and electric. In spring and electric airsoft guns a high powered spring is contracted to a point where its maximum potential energy output can be achieved. When the gun is fired the spring is released from this position. A piston is attached to the spring, so when the spring uncoils the piston shoots forward, and in turn compresses the air in front of it. This compressed air is what propels the BB forward. In spring powered airsoft guns the spring is cocked back manually before each shot. In an electric airsoft gun a high torque motor and gear box are used to accomplish this task, and allows the airsoft gun to fire in full-auto mode.

Gas airsoft guns work a little differently. Instead of air they use Green Gas, Propane, or CO2. The gas is already compressed so there is no spring which needs to be compressed before each shot, pressurized gas is already stored inside the gun. When the trigger is pulled some of this gas is released, which then propels the BB forward.

Airsoft Gun Styles

Airsoft guns come in many shapes and sizes. The styles can generally be divided into two main categories: pistols and rifles. Airsoft pistols are handguns and generally used as sidearms. Rifles are larger and usually more powerful than pistols.

Airsoft pistols are usually made to be replicas of real handguns. Most of them are modeled after magazine fed pistols such as the Berretta 92FS, Glock 18, 1911, or Sig Saur. Magazine fed airsoft pistols usually have magazine capacities of 12 to 50 rounds, but some also come with high capacity magazines with 100 shots or more. Gas versions of these pistols often also feature a blow back mechanism which makes the slide shoot back for each shot. This makes the firing action more lifelike and emulates the recoil that would be felt when firing a real firearm. There are also several models of airsoft revolvers. These airsoft pistols often use shells into which BBs are loaded. The shells are then loaded into a rotating cylinder just like a real revolver.

There are a great variety of different airsoft rifle styles. Airsoft rifles can be modeled after assault rifles, shotguns, or sniper rifles. Guns modeled after assault rifles are usually fully automatic AEGs (airsoft electric guns). They are commonly modeled after modern firearms such as the M4, M16, AK-47, G36, Steyer Aug, and many others. Airsoft shotguns and sniper rifles are usually spring powered. In airsoft shotguns the handle attached to the barrel is pumped before each shot is fired. Airsoft sniper rifles usually have a bolt-action system where a bolt is pulled back before each shot.

Sniping in airsoft can actually be a lot of fun, so if you haven't tried it you may want to give it a shot. You will get a different experience because sniping requires a different set of skills than what you may be used to with your standard AEG. With an AEG you can pump out rounds 10 times faster than you can count and with a high cap magazine each individual shot is not that important in the grand scheme of things. That's why using a sniper rifle can add some new thrill to the game.

You really need to make every shot you take count, because if you miss that vital shot you might not get another chance to get another one off before you're history. Sniping requires patience, accuracy, timing, and strategy. You really need to know how to work the equipment too. The scope has to be sighted correctly and you need to know how to use it to its full effect. You will need to make use of cover and concealment skills to stay hidden from the opposing side. If you don't plan ahead and make good use of your environment you will most likely find yourself in some tight spots. And you definitely don't want to find yourself surrounded when armed only with a single shot sniper rifle and perhaps a semi automatic pistol as a sidearm. Sniping will definitely challenge you, but this is why it is all the more rewarding when you excel at it.
